Abo Makhrog

A new retreat space to enjoy nature in the heart of the city BC Estudio group

Abo Makhrog is one of the oldest parks in Riyadh and was once the only recreational outlet for the city’s inhabitants. It is located in the Al-Dhubat neighborhood (Almalaz) on the road to Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi (the sixty), covering 40,000 square meters.

The park’s design is inspired by its rocky history. Historically, it served as a desert landmark where travelers would rest before entering Riyadh.

The Abo Makhrog Park proposal connects the past with the present. It emphasizes the importance of natural spaces as refuges and aims to create new areas where people can enjoy nature in the heart of the city. This will greatly enhance the quality of life for Riyadh’s residents.

The design incorporates natural rock formations and desert landscaping to honor the park’s history. Pathways meander through lush greenery, leading to shaded seating areas and scenic viewpoints. These features provide visitors with a serene environment to relax and connect with nature.

The park includes modern amenities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and fitness zones. These cater to families and individuals of all ages. The integration of sustainable practices, like water-efficient irrigation systems and native plants, minimizes the park’s environmental impact.

In summary, Abo Makhrog Park blends history and modernity. It offers a tranquil retreat within Riyadh, inviting residents and visitors to appreciate the city’s natural beauty and heritage. This project preserves a vital piece of the city’s past while enriching the community’s present and future by providing a green oasis for all to enjoy.
