BC Estudio Group’s Projects in the World’s Best Vineyards 2020 List

BC Estudio Group is proud to announce that two of their projects have been recognized in the World’s Best Vineyards 2020 list. These projects, developed for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa, California, and Bodegas Torres in Pacs del Penedès, Barcelona, showcase the group’s excellence in architectural design.

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Project

One of the standout projects by BC Estudio Group is the development for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in Napa, California, selected as one of the best wineries in the world.

Project Goals

The main goal was to integrate various spaces within the wineries under a single architectural plan. Collaboration between the client and the architect was key, reflecting the family winery’s tradition and quality.

Key Features

  • The Arcade: A porch-archway that connects different parts of the winery.
  • Special Areas:
    • The Great Room: A welcoming space for important guests.
    • The Round Room: A unique room with a grand vault and a Foucault pendulum, symbolizing the passage of time.

Materials and Lighting

  • Floors: Natural quartzite slabs.
  • Walls: Finished with cement and mica.
  • Lighting: Floor-mounted lights and copper cones create beautiful reflections, like a starry night.

Building Design

The building has large windows that stand out against the strong dark stone walls. Outside, there are terraces and a pond, with the surrounding area featuring rockery and native plants.

Bodegas Torres Project

Another important project by BC Estudio Group is the development for Bodegas Torres in Pacs del Penedès, Barcelona, also selected among the top wineries in the world.

Project Vision

This project honors the Torres family’s winemaking heritage. The wine cellar and visitor center help people connect with the history and tradition of the winery.

Architectural Design

The design fits with the natural landscape, using corten, concrete, and landscaped roofs across three levels.

  • Underground Plaza: Stores the best wines.
  • Cloister and Fountain: A peaceful area with a central fountain, connecting inside and outside spaces.
  • VIP Reception and Museum: Offers views over a pond connected to the cloister by a waterfall.

Sustainability

The project includes a photovoltaic tree that lights up the complex, supporting a greener future.

Artistic Elements

Artworks by Xavier Corberó, Josep Cerdà i Ferrer, and Waltraud Maczassek enhance the experience throughout the complex.

Conclusion

BC Estudio Group’s projects for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and Bodegas Torres show their skill in combining modern architecture with traditional elements. These projects celebrate the history of winemaking while promoting sustainability and innovation.
