Javier Barba, a native of Barcelona, Spain, was born into a lineage steeped in architectural excellence, with a family legacy spanning an impressive 250 years. Raised in an environment where architecture was more than a profession—it was a way of life—Javier absorbed the essence of his heritage from an early age.

His formal education in architecture at the School of Architecture in Barcelona instilled in him the principles of functionalism and geometric precision. However, Javier’s vision transcended mere functionality; he sought to imbue his designs with a sense of harmony and integration with the surrounding environment.

Long before sustainability became a mainstream concern, Javier embraced eco-conscious principles, incorporating passive solar elements and drawing inspiration from traditional local architecture. He understood that buildings should not only serve their purpose efficiently but also seamlessly coexist with nature.

In 1980, Javier founded BC Estudio Architects, paying homage to his father, Barba Corsini, while charting his own innovative course in the architectural world. With a blend of inherited wisdom and personal ingenuity, he quickly garnered attention both domestically and internationally.

Javier’s work has been featured prominently in Architectural Digest, with over 14 exclusive publications showcasing his distinctive style. Beginning with residential commissions, his portfolio expanded to encompass a diverse range of projects, including residential developments, boutique hotels, wineries, and golf clubs.

Susana Zanón is a highly esteemed architect with a rich and diverse professional background spanning over four decades. Graduating in Architecture from Santa Fe, Argentina in 1981, Susana quickly made a mark on the architectural landscape. Notably, she was part of the team of students honored with a Special Mention at the XIV Congress of the International Union of Architecture in Warsaw, 1981.

During her formative years in Argentina, Susana’s career flourished as a freelance professional, earning accolades for her contributions to various architectural competitions and projects. Simultaneously, she dedicated herself to academia, serving as a teacher, assistant professor, and researcher at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral, while also contributing to architectural publications and study commissions.

Upon relocating to Barcelona, Spain in 1988, Susana continued to expand her expertise, completing a postgraduate degree in Heritage Restoration at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Her commitment to excellence led to her membership in the Colegio de Arquitectos de Catalunya (COAC), where she continues to be an active participant in the architectural community.

Throughout her illustrious career, Susana has been involved in numerous restoration projects, contributing her expertise to initiatives aimed at preserving historical sites and cultural heritage. Her collaboration with institutions such as the UPC and the Institute of Construction Technology of Catalonia (ITEC) has further solidified her reputation as a leading figure in the field.

Since joining BC Estudio Architects in 1992, Susana has served as a cornerstone of the firm’s success. As the General Project Director, she brings a wealth of experience and a holistic vision to every project she undertakes. Her role involves overseeing project coordination, managing internal and external teams, and ensuring client satisfaction from conception to completion.

Gabriel Barba is a Spanish architect and industrial designer, holding registration with the esteemed Catalan association of architects, COAC. His professional journey began in the realm of industrial and product design.

Following the completion of his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Gabriel’s career trajectory expanded to encompass a wide spectrum of architectural projects. From residential dwellings to expansive developments, including wineries, hotels, and resorts, he has accumulated extensive experience in architectural design and team management.

Gabriel’s approach to problem-solving is characterized by a balanced consideration of both overarching concepts and nuanced details. Whether conceptualizing master plans or refining specific design features, his expertise ensures a comprehensive and meticulous approach.

In addition to his technical proficiency, Gabriel is known for his collaborative and dynamic nature. He values teamwork and actively fosters an environment conducive to creativity and innovation.

With a background in business, Gabriel brings a strategic understanding of the interplay between architectural practice and client expectations. As a Design Manager, he facilitates seamless collaboration within the design team, ensuring cohesive efforts between architects and sub-consultants. Furthermore, Gabriel serves as a conduit between clients and designers, ensuring projects adhere to established timelines and exceed client expectations.

Jordi Barba is a highly skilled landscape architect, boasting a wealth of experience and a diverse educational background. He holds a Landscape Architect degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona (ETSABUPC), complemented by a degree in Biology from the Universitat de Girona (UDG) and a Master’s degree in Engineering and Environmental Management.

With a comprehensive understanding of both natural sciences and environmental engineering, Jordi brings a unique perspective to landscape architecture. His multifaceted education provides him with a broad outlook on environmental issues, enriching his problem-solving approach in landscape architecture projects of various scales and typologies.

Over the past decade, Jordi has served as the Landscape Director at BC Estudio, where he has overseen landscape projects across Europe, America, Australia, Asia, and the Middle East. From residential properties to wine visitor centers, hotels, and golf resorts, he has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lead projects from conceptualization to execution, ensuring meticulous attention to detail at every stage.

Jordi’s expertise extends beyond traditional landscape design, as evidenced by his previous role as a Landscape Consultant for the Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) on the prestigious Gates Project in Riyadh. This experience underscores his capacity to tackle complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions in urban environments.

As Landscape Director, Jordi’s responsibilities encompass directing a multidisciplinary team of landscape architects throughout the entire design process. From initial concept development to the creation of detailed drawings and on-site supervision, he is committed to achieving the highest standards in sustainable landscape design and management.

Margarida is a distinguished Portuguese architect and interior designer, boasting over 15 years of international experience. Currently leading the interior design team at BC Estudio, she has made significant contributions to the field through her keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence.

Beginning her professional journey as an architect, Margarida honed her skills in creativity, spatial perception, and construction solutions. Over eight years in architecture, she gained a profound understanding of sustainable materials and environmental considerations, reflecting her deep-seated concern for the planet.

Transitioning to interior design, Margarida brought with her a wealth of experience and a passion for creating spaces that resonate with sensitivity, coherence, warmth, and authenticity. Each project she undertakes is a testament to her dedication to understanding the unique needs of every client and infusing each design with passion and commitment.

As the Interior Design Director at BC Estudio for the past seven years, Margarida has led numerous high-profile projects, spanning residential homes, commercial buildings, hotels, wineries, and golf clubhouses. In her role, she ensures that interior designs seamlessly complement the overarching architectural and landscaping concepts, resulting in cohesive and harmonious spaces.
